Day 2: An Education

Good Morning Class!  Today we're going to explore how to procrastinate.

To begin your procrastination journey, write the due date of whatever the task is on your calendar.  For good measure, stick it on a post-it note on your mirror, too, so you see it every day.

Next, set yourself a schedule so you know when you need to have certain tasks complete on the journey to final project completion.  Ignore this schedule.

Third, spend at least a few minutes every morning and evening staring at your calendar, counting the days that you have left to complete the task.

Fourth, schedule an entire weekend to complete the entire project.  Prepare yourself by scheduling library time, and making a list of supplies you'll need to pick up in order to complete the project.

Then, when said weekend arrives, distract yourself by watching old movies you DVRd, and spending time on Pinterest and reading your blog statistics to see how quickly they change.

Finally, the night before the project is due, spend an exorbitant amount of time totally anxious, to the point of a panic attack.  Once said attack has passed, turn some music on really loudly to drown out all the negative voices in your head, and get to work.  Stay up as late as possible (midnight or one o'clock in the morning) and set your alarm for an hour and a half early, just to add the finishing touches.

When you turn said project in, you will feel a huge sense of relief for completing it.  You will promise yourself never, ever, ever to do that much procrastinating again.  This, of course, will go completely out the window when you get the A on your project, and realize that procrastination really is ok.  If only you could do something about the accompanying panic attacks......

Day 2 Prompt: Educate us on something you know a lot about or are good at. Take any approach you'd like (serious and educational or funny and sarcastic.)

Some Friday Fun!

Things have been a little, well, a little blah this week.  I don't want to end the week on a depressing note, so.... here's a little Friday Fun for you!

Week 31: Smile!

What makes me smile.... Not a whole heck of a lot these days.  Which you may think is unusual cause it is summer, and summer is supposed to be full of fun and care-free days.  So as to avoid a major downer of a post, here are a few things that I hope make you smile.

AND, since laughter usually means you're smiling, take a peak at
this post on laughter, I promise it will make you smile if you haven't already!

Week 29: Made Ya Laugh!

This week's task is to write about something I did that I can now look back and laugh.  It's taken me a long time to be able to laugh at myself without beating myself up, and even then, it's only in certain situations that I can do so.  Like, my classroom!  As sensitive as I am, when I'm in the classroom, I have no trouble taking a joke and that's where most of the "laugh at me" moments happen!

I have a tendency to get really excited about learning, and sometimes with that excitement comes a bit of tripping over the tongue, mine, that is.  At least once a week I'll be asking a question, but instead of asking the question, I'll give the answer instead!  When I first found myself doing this, my students and I got a big chuckle out of it.  My concern was that it happened often enough where I didn't want it to impact their learning, so I made a game of it!  Now, when I answer the question instead of ask it, we still laugh, but then the kids try to come up with the question I was supposed to ask, since I've already given them the answer.

A less frequent occurrence, though still at least once a semester, we will be in the middle of a class discussion of sorts, and I'll head over to the dry erase board to grab a marker.  Well, of course it starts with good intentions - I'll get a few notes on the board, or a drawing of sorts (my drawings are very laughable themselves, but that's a different story!)  As the conversation builds, unless I put down the marker, well.... Let's just say if marker tossing was an Olympic sport, then I'd definitely be in medal contention!

Arielle's Word-of-the-Day: LAUGHTER

June Blog Challenge Day 18: LAUGHTER

I love Calvin and Hobbes.  They never fail to make me smile!

If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm a total quote junkie.  Meaningful, serious, inspirational, emotional, motivational, and yes, even hysterical - I collect them all.  The quotes I picked for this make me smile, and smiles more often than not lead to laughter.  And laughter is always the best medicine for everything, right?

Prompt: Do you have a photo that embodies laughter you can share? Maybe it’s of you, your kids, or a drawing.  Maybe you have forgotten how to laugh.  Maybe laughter is what gets you through the hard times. Share your laughter with us.
