Beauty.... I'm not sure I have my own definition, yet, so I dug up a few quotes to help me explore the topic...

And one of my personal favorites...

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.
--Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

If they say
that what we recognize in others
is something
we have in ourselves,
maybe
there is still hope
for me to find
beauty within,
since it is so easy
to find it elsewhere...

I think that beauty is the light that we see in the people and the world around us, whether it be the the beauty of a ray of sunshine glimmering on a newly bloomed flower's soft pink petal or a warm smile on an old woman's face as she serves food to a hungry homeless person in a shelter. Beauty is in what we do for others and not in what we do to ourselves. I have come to learn that real beauty is lasting, just like the acts we do for others, they impact others in a big way, not so with the things we do to ourselves. In those things, we do them again and again and never really achieve that inner peace that real beauty provides.
